St. Mark’s Leadership Academy
Started in 2014, the St. Mark’s Leadership Academy is helmed directly by Principal Monica Gerardo. She meets with all Kindergarten through 8th grade classes to teach and strengthen leadership skills. During these classes, our K-8 students focus on various themes each quarter – teamwork, servant leadership, decision making, and communication. These are all put into practice during the annual Leadership Event, which is a two-day affair full of activities, obstacles, and games to strengthen these vital skills.
Additionally, programs like Reading Buddies, in which the 4th graders mentor younger 1st grade readers, also enforce the learned Leadership skills. St. Mark’s 5th and 6th graders can demonstrate leadership as bank tellers for our own St. Mark’s branch of Mega Bank, while the 7th and 8th graders can serve on our governing Student Council or in the L.E.A.D. program. Throughout the year, there are many events in which our Junior High students act as leaders and guides for our younger students.

Leadership Academy Mission Statement
The St. Mark's Leadership Academy is a groundbreaking program that will educate, guide, and nurture students and staff in their journey to become confident leaders in life. The Leadership Academy will provide opportunities to create positive change in the world by developing leaders who act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their Lord. Our goal is to shape individuals who are faithful servants of God, responsible citizens, life-long learners, complex thinkers, and effective communicators throughout all facets of life.
L.E.A.D. Program
Led by Principal Gerardo, Ms. Abbott, and Ms. Nelson, the Leadership Exploration and Development (L.E.A.D.) Program educates, guides, and develops students in their journey to becoming confident leaders in life. Composed of a select group of 8th graders that underwent a rigorous application process, the purpose of this group is to give back to the community, helping those who are less fortunate. The L.E.A.D. program provides opportunities to generate positive change in the world by shaping leaders and assisting them in utilizing their leadership skills for good.
St. Mark's Student Council
The Student Council is made up of one 8th grade Student Body President, one 7th/8th grade Student Body Vice President, and two Class Representatives from each 7th and 8th grade homeroom. These members prepare and present speeches and are then elected by their peers. Under the direction of Student Council Advisor Ms. Ferrini, they are responsible for representing their classmates and other students, presenting ideas and concerns to the Council, and exhibiting a high level of leadership on the campus. Throughout the year, the Council members will attend weekly Council meetings, assist in Wednesday Chapel services, coordinate the Junior High dances, help with various campus events, and lead community service projects that will benefit local children.
